This is a grackle on my deck railing. I took this in October 2020. One of my favorite things about photographing is capturing the appeal of even the most ordinary or familiar bird. Grackles are fairly universally regarded as bully birds at the feeder, but when the light catches them just right, particularly after it’s been raining, their colors are quite spectacular. Capturing this one with a seed in its mouth added to the visual interest.
